Characteristics of a Great Teacher - A Poll

In a 2013 article by Maria Orlando EdD, Orlando focused on the nine characteristics she believes to be most essential to a great teacher.  All nine are necessary, but if you had to narrow it down to the MOST IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTIC OF A GREAT TEACHER what would it be?
I'll leave the poll open until Aug. 8th and then share my thoughts of the results with you in a follow up post.

    It is hard to pick just one, but I chose "love of learning and inspires students with passion for growth". Your love for learning needs to be seen and felt by students. Great poll!

    This was a brilliant idea for a poll post. I'm with Tara and saying that it is hard to pick just one. It's amazing how they can be interconnected.

    I chose the "warm, enthusiastic, accessible, and caring." We just did a similar activity in a faculty meeting (middle school), and the majority of my colleagues picked one like the one I just chose. This is so difficult to choose though!

      It is hard to choose because we know there are so many qualities important to being a good teacher. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

    What a thinker of a poll. The article is definitely something worth sharing with other teachers - perhaps as a beginning of the year motivator? As for the poll, warm, enthusiastic and caring is my choice. Students need to feel your enthusiasm every day to be enthusiastic themselves. Accessible helps as students can feel they can talk to you about issues in your classroom and outside.

    Thought provoking poll, Jonanna. I chose "respects students" because I feel if one respects, the rest fall into place.
